Power Move: Beyonce Creates with Topshop

By on October 27, 2014

Is there any stopping Madam Knowles- Carter? I mean she is one of the smartest business women the music industry has seen thus far. While she has dabbled in the fashion world before ( House of Dereon, H&M, etc), this venture is sure to be one of her most lucrative moves to date. Queen Beezy is said to be developing a brand of activewear with fashion staple TopShop for release next. The company was very clear that this was just no run of the mill celebrity endorsed line of clothing , moreover a new brand all together. The line will feature footwear, sportwear, and athletic inspired pieces for the “yoga/healthclub” type of gal. Take a look at the announcement below.

Beyoncé Knowles and London-based Topshop have formed a 50-50 joint venture company, Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd., to produce an athletic streetwear brand, WWD has learned. It could launch in stores and online in fall 2015 at the earliest.

“This not a collaboration. This is about building a brand and building a business — a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office,” Topshop owner Sir Philip Green told WWD in an interview Sunday.

“I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking,” Beyoncé said.

While I’m not sure why Beyonce would do a line STRICTLY of active wear, I’m sure thats a calculated move as well. Do your thing B, do your thing.
