Luke James is a superstar. A modern day entertainment renaissance man if you will. That’s the only way you can explain his meteoric rise from behind the scenes to behind the mic.

In just two short years, the New Orleans, La native has racked up a list of achievements that breakout artists could only dream of.  Not only does he have a string of songs that he’s penned for Justin Bieber, Britney Spears and Chris Brown, but his own single, “I Want You” was nominated for a 2013 Grammy award.  Beyonce was so impressed with his soulful skills that she handpicked him to open for her world tour, the Mrs. Carter Show, now on its 2nd North American leg.

As if criss crossing the country with the world’s biggest pop star wasn’t enough, Luke was the face of Sean John’s Fall/Winter campaign and was added to the “Best Dressed” list by GQ magazine.  You can currently catch him in the film “Black Nativity” in theaters now.el luke james cover

As he puts the finishing touches on his debut album, “Made to Love”,  which is set for release in 2014, the Louisiana homie checked in to answer our 5 Questions

1. What is the Luke James Sound? It’s emotional. Its Jazz. Funk. Hip Hop. Gospel.  Being from New Orleans, those are the sounds that influence my music so you hear all of that in there.

2. If you weren’t an entertainer, what would your profession be?  Hmmn.. I’m not sure. Maybe a teacher? Or a bum LOL.

3.  What’s the first tape/CD you remember buying? wooooww… um… If I remember correctly, it was a single. Keith Sweat’s “Nobody”.

4.  Who is your dream duet partner? I would love to work with Jay Z or Kanye.

5.  What’s your favorite way to relax? Laid up with a pair of pretty feet. Listening to Nina Simone or Marvin Gaye.
