2012 was a big year of comeback artists, new artists and a chance for some veterans to maintain their fan base. We will be going through 2012 with some great musical moments and sounds that really stood out for us. Also we’ll be sharing some artists who we feel you need to be looking out for.

It’s been a busy year for Nicki Minaj with great hits she’s put out like “Starships”, “Roman Holiday”, and the great dance track, “Beez In Da Trap” from Pink Friday…..Roman Reloaded album. Do we remember the memorable performance she did at the 2012 Grammy Award Show in February? That performance was very controversial but that didn’t hurt her fame, her Barbz and Ken Dollz still stuck with her.

R&B veteran, Anita Baker, also made a great buzz with her single “Lately” which was originally done by Tyrese and in Willoughby’s opinion it was so much better. Anita’s voice put warmth and easiness to the song.

Also Rock band veterans, Aerosmith released the album, ‘Music From Another Dimension’, after 8 years out of the studio and this album has the original sound that Aerosmith fans stay in love with.

There was a great event that The Grammy Recording Academy put on in tribute of the late Whitney Houston this year in Los Angeles that allowed a great opportunity for some great artists and other celebrities a chance to say goodbye to one of the greatest artists that has lived. “We Will Always Love You: A GRAMMY Salute to Whitney Houston” was taped in Los Angeles on October 11, 2012 that brought artists like Jennifer Hudson, CeCe Winans, Usher, Yolonda Adams, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, LL Cool J and other actors like Halle Berry and Taraji P. Henson.

A great collaboration of some of R&B’s favorite female singers was put together this summer which consisted of Faith Evans, Keke Wyatt, Syleena Johnson, Monifah Carter and Nicci Gilbert. This album also had reality show to go behind the scenes of the making of this great gathering of singers.

Also there were releases from Kid Rock, Pink, Taylor Swift, Elle Varner, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Rihanna, and so many other artists that have really stood out this year. As I said in the beginning of this article, that there was some great music that was released. Too many artists to name in one article. Not to mention a lot of mixtapes were released from Chrissette Michelle, Luke James (keep your eye on him), Anesha, Keyondra Lockett, Sean Fair, Evin Amiri, and many others you need to look out for.

Brandy was blazing the trail this year since her duo with Monica, which had not been done since 1998. Of course there had been talk of a possible album which came true for her fans and she’s been receiving rave reviews of ‘Two Eleven’. Her performances have bee on fire by her sultry vocals and awesome dance moves.

So those are some, just some of 2012 that stood out in the music scene. Of course there are so many other moments to mention but not time and attention. We will say this STAY TUNED to 2013 for some more great music that is soon to be released. 2013 is looking GREAT already!
